Optimisation on Thermoforming of Biodegradable Poly (Lactic Acid) (PLA) by Numerical Modelling

Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) has a broad perspective for manufacturing green thermoplastic products by thermoforming its biodegradable properties. The mechanical behaviour of PLA been demonstrated strong dependence on temperature and strain rate at biaxial deformation. A nonlinear viscoelastic model the previous study was employed in process used food packaging. An optimisation approach developed achieving optimal profile specimens defining multiple heating zones based numerical modelling with finite element analysis (FEA). forming product illustrated results shape evolution history. suggested scalloped to achieve more even thickness distribution. sensitivity addressed checking robustness under perturbation.
